Dental Hygienist: Nancy Maina

Nancy Maina has been a Dental Hygienist at Pure Dental for two years and has been a Dental Hygienist for almost five years. She says she always wanted to be in the healthcare field because she's fascinated by how unique a person's teeth are. She stays excited about her work and her contribution to Dentistry by giving her best to take care of others. She loves how she is able to be a part of her patients' solutions to better oral health care. As a first place winner of science projects at Baylor, a member of the Deans List at both Texas A&M University and Baylor College of Dentistry, an Honor Society Member of the Texas A&M chapter and a Member of Phi Kappa Theta, Pure Dental is certainly happy to have Nancy Maina.

What are you known for in your profession - what do you have a knack for? I am known by my patients, my friends and colleagues for being happy, gentle and sweet.

What’s the one problem you are best at solving for your clients? I have had patients say to me that they are usually apprehensive to get their teeth cleaned but they feel more comfortable with me and want to come back again or even refer their spouses/other family members to come see me because of being gentle and for facilitating a relaxing, stress-free appointment.

What are you passionate about personally? What can’t you stop talking about? I love singing and I really enjoy travelling as well. I can't stop talking about the many places I want to go visit some day soon.

Where can we find you when you’re not working? I am either at my house hanging with family or somewhere singing.

Any volunteer activities you’re crazy about? I enjoy helping to feed people at the shelter, providing food to those who do not have something to eat or need supplies like blankets or socks during winter.

Are there any non-profits you love, & why? I love working with FeedingTheHungry.org and with Red Cross. They make it possible to help people who need my help but are not near me.

How do you want to be remembered? I hope that all people remember me as being kind, sweet and diligent.
