Dr. Ashraf was born and grew up in London, England until moving to Detroit when he was sixteen. He’s traveled the United States since, living in Baltimore, Boston, Washington DC and now he’s trying our fabulous city of Dallas. The majority of his career has been in public health were he’s worked with the under served and medically compromised communities.
Dr. Ashraf really enjoys working with the patients at PURE who come from so many different backgrounds and work in such a variety of different industries. Getting to talk to people, he says, is one of the best parts of being a dentist.
How long have you been working in Dentistry? I have been a dentist for ten years.
Where did you go to school to become a Dentist? I gained my Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Maryland and went on to complete a General Practice Residency at Harvard School of Dental Medicine.
What is the favorite part of your day as a Dentist? I like to put my patients at ease and I’m happy when they leave knowing that I’m providing the best care possible and their health care needs are my number one concern. The best comments start with “I usually hate the dentist” and end with “but I’m happy here!”.
Are there any non-profits you love and why? Lately I have been paying attention to the International Rescue Committee, which has a regional office close to PURE. The IRC works with refugees around the world, which is one of the most pressing issues currently.
